Care Home Recruitment: Care Workers vs. Registered Nurses

Care workers may be imported under the Special Scheme to Import Care Workers for Residential Care Homes (1:1 ratio for private homes), with a local recruitment period of only 14 consecutive calendar days;Registered nurses are regulated professionals who require prior approval from the Nursing Council of Hong Kong in addition to quota and visa processing. We verify academic and registration documentation before submitting immigration applications.

  1. Employers must hold a valid licence for residential care homes for the elderly, residential care homes for persons with disabilities, or a nursing home exemption certificate.
  2. Remuneration for imported care workers must not be lower than the latest monthly wage median for care workers published by the Census and Statistics Department.
  3. Recruitment must be conducted via Mainland labour enterprises approved by the Ministry of Commerce with eligibility for Hong Kong labour cooperation.
  4. Imported care workers must attend the mandatory briefing arranged by the Labour Department within 8 weeks of arrival in Hong Kong.
