01Residential Care Homes for the Elderly

The care home sector faces the most severe manpower shortage, so the government has introduced the dedicated "Special Scheme to Import Care Workers for Residential Care Homes": it offers more flexible manpower ratios, the shortest local recruitment period (14 consecutive calendar days), and accepts applications in batches.

02Catering Industry

Catering is one of the most common application categories. Due to local recruitment difficulties for waiters and junior cooks, the local recruitment period is extended to 6 weeks, and approval times are longer, so early planning is recommended.

Sector-specific labour importation schemes exist for public light buses, passenger vehicles, and the aviation sector. Driver positions require verification of driving licences and industry qualifications, with more extensive documentation than other trades.

05Mainland Nurses for Hong Kong

First, distinguish between two pathways:Care workers may be imported under the Special Scheme to Import Care Workers for Residential Care Homes;Registered nurses are regulated professionals who require prior professional approval from the Nursing Council of Hong Kong in addition to quota and visa processing.
